How To Make Safe Weed Killer
A couple years ago, I decided to start growing some of my own food. I created some raised beds in my back yard, planted some peppers, tomatoes and beans and never looked back. The reason that I decided to do this was because of the horrible things I kept hearing about the pesticides on commercially grown vegetables. Actually not just on them, but in them because they are sprayed over and over the entire time they are growing. Chemicals in the ground, air, water, how could they not be in the food?
Then it occurred to me that the weed killers that I was using were the very same dangerous chemicals that I was trying to avoid by growing my own food. I threw them all in the garbage, and set out to find a safe weed killer that I could make myself. Making something yourself, is the only sure way to know what is in it. I found many supposedly safe ways to kill weed, on the internet: red wine vinegar (didn't work), boiling water (didn't work), alcohol and water (didn't work). Then I ran across a recipe on a homesteading website, so I decided to try it. It worked like a charm and the ingredients are totally safe for kids, pets and everyone else. It is easy to make and also safe to store. It was exactly what I wanted!
