How to Make Homemade Hand Sanitizer

Hand Sanitizer You Can Make Your Own!
If you are like me, you use a lot of hand sanitizer. After a while it gets expensive, especially if you use a good quality brand that is better for your skin. I got sick of spending so much, so I decided to do some investigating on making my own. It's not just the money, but also the ingredients. I don't recognize half the ingredients that are listed on the back of my store bought sanitizer. Who knows what kinds of additives and preservatives they put in them.
So I did some experimenting and I came up with a great recipe with just three simple ingredients. You can easily make it and put it in your own bottles that you can buy at the dollar store. The recipe that I originally used had alcohol in it, however, it dried my skin out pretty bad (I have dry skin) so I decided to substitute witch hazel for the rubbing alcohol. It's antibacterial properties are almost as strong as alcohol, but it is not nearly as drying.
Save yourself some money and be sure of what you are putting on your skin by making your own hand sanitizer. You won't regret it!

Materials:
- 1 cup pure aloe vera gel
- 1 cup witch hazel or 1/2 cup alcohol (your preference)
- 6 drops of lavender oil (optional for a nicer smell)
Tools:
- measuring cups
- blender
- funnel
- bottle
Instructions:
1. Measure your ingredients into a mixing bowl or blender. I prefer a blender because I think the result is smoother.
2. Blend on puree for three minutes or hand mix vigorously until smooth.
3. Slip the funnel in the neck of your bottle and pour the contents of the blender into your bottle. Cap the bottle. Does not need to be refrigerated.
How to Apply Hand Sanitizer Properly
Apply the hand sanitizer into the dry palm of your hand
Make sure to use enough to cover your whole hand
Rub your hands together until the sanitizer has been absorbed and your hand feels dry
Do not rinse or put your hands in water
