Bra Ball - Why You Should Use One
At first glance, this laundry sphere seems like kind of an odd product, funny even. However, if you have ever opened up the washing machine to find:
- Your bra strap stretched out and ruined from being wrapped around the agitator.
- The hooks on your bra embedded in another piece of your clothing, twisted twisted tight, stretching out the bra elastic and tearing a hole in the other piece.
- The padding inside the cups of your bra all misshapen or wadded up in a ball inside the cup
Any of the situations listed above can destroy your bra, stretching it out beyond recovery, tearing off the hooks or ruining the cups. If any of these things happens, you may as well throw the bra in the garbage, which is a huge waste of money. Bras, especially good bras, are very expensive, costing from $29 to $80 or more. The point of paying a high price for a bra is to get the quality, fit and look you will get from it. Doesn't it make sense to take extra good care of something that is such a high financial investment? This is why I recommend the BraBall.
I got a laundry sphere (we call it a bra ball!) from my mom about 10 years ago and of course, I tossed it in my underwear drawer and never looked at it again. Then about 6 years ago, I experienced what I refer to as (insert dramatic music) "The Bra Incident."
The Bra Incident
I bought a compression yoga tank top that was rather expensive. In order to wear it, I had to by an equally expensive convertible bra that I could change to straps to an X in the back, so they would not show. The first time I wore them, I was very pleased with how well they looked together. After my workout, I tossed them both in the washing machine, and when the washing cycle was done, I opened up the washer and found (to my complete horror) that the bra strap had come loose from the bra, got hooked on my new (expensive) tank top, which then got hooked onto the rib of the agitator. It was twisted and so tightly wrapped around that I had a terrible time getting the whole mess loose of the washing machine. When I finally did, I was devastated. The bra hook was bent like a pretzel, and it had snagged on the neckline of my tank and ripped the piping off the tank in a three inch gash. They were both ruined.....over $100 wasted.
I was SO not a happy camper. That was when I started looking for my BraBall that my mother had bought me a few years earlier. When I found it and opened it and saw how it worked, I realized what a dodo I had been for not using it all along. If you check out the video below, you will immediately see what I mean, and why this device is definitely one that you do not want to be without.
